Highland coos are the oldest registered breed of cattle. Their ancestry dates back thousands of years. Coos are a quintessential part of Scottish history being a significant source of food.
Their colors include black, brindle, dun, red, yellow, white, and silver. They have split hooves with two toes on each foot to help navigate rough terrain. Males and females have horns that span up to 6'.
McCallie Highland Coos are raised naturally without any grains to fatten them up for processing. Being all natural makes their meat truly organic. They graze on pasture grass, forage for acorns, and only eat hay to suplement their regular diet.
Highland coos are special in many ways. They are colloquially known as hairy cows for their long, flowing fur. Many blow their coat for shorter hair during hot summer months while some maintain the longer fluff all year.
Scottish cattle are also known for being very manageable. They disposition is generally docile but don't be fooled, they are powerful and sometimes frolic and wrestle with each other. But don't worry, it is rare for them to do more than wave their horns at people. Most love to get cuddles and be scratched and brushed and will even follow you around for more attention.
